10. Bigger Dreams
Adding bedrooms, office space, and a garage.
We have now lived in the house for almost one year. So far we have realized that despite the house being huge, we do not have enough bedrooms nor dedicated office space. Instead of making an addition, it makes sense to reconfigure parts of the house to work better for our family.

Schematic House Plans
Here are our proposed house plans, current as of April 11, 2023:
2022 is the floor plan as it exists today
20XX is the floor plan for the future
Future House Addition
The house is already huge, but I want to make it even bigger. I realize that this is ridiculous, but the property is ridiculous. The current house may be estate sized, but it does not have an estately presence. One way to improve this impression is to improve the approach to the house.
I want to relocate the formal approach and entry to the house to the north driveway (page right). We will keep the south entry as a family or service entry, but the prime entry will be at the north end of the house.

Here is the proposed roof plan:
2023 is the roof plan as it exists today — since we just fixed the roof, the roof over the main house is not changing!

Site Plan
The garage addition helps to consolidate the driveway to the guest house. It also gives me an awesome location for a future katsura tree — more on that, and the orchard, hobby green house, orangery, and guest house, in a future post!
My next step is to fix hazard #3 in progress, finish the guest house remodel, and set up the hobby green house. Fun, fun, fun!
